Self Starter 1

Entrepreneur Academe participant, Suzanne Noble, has just won the Self Starter of the Year Award, through which Startacus celebrates innovation, entrepreneurship, and all round self starter spirit within their growing community of enterprising individuals.

Each week Startacus awards a member of their online community with a ‘Self Starter of the Week’ title, in recognition of entrepreneurial spirit, inspiring work, innovation, enterprise success, or social impact. From 2014’s weekly winners, 8 finalists were selected to pitch to the Startacus community, describing why they deserved to be awarded the Self Starter of the Year title. With fierce voting over the past week Startacus has now announced that the winner is Suzanne Noble.

Suzanne Noble, is the founder of Frugl, a new events discovery app that helps Londoners on a budget find affordable things to do. Suzanne is very much the epitome of what makes a real self starter; a 50-something who had a great idea for a business and quit her job to pursue it. One year on, with the help of a new co-founder and some web developers in Shoreditch, she has herself a thriving digital enterprise that has already been featured in The Sun, The London Evening Standard, Look, and Tech City News.

Startacus Co-Founder Alastair Cameron said:

“We are delighted that Suzanne has been named as our Self Starter of the Year as she demonstrates really well the ethos we try to nurture within the Startacus community. She is enterprising and innovative, but most importantly she is an inspiration to anyone who has ever thought of doing something with their big or small idea; living proof that with guts, determination and a lot of hard work, pretty much anything is possible”

Suzanne was delighted and flattered to accept the award, which comes after the busiest and most challenging year of her life. She said:

“Winning the “Self-Starter of the Year” feels like a real achievement after twelve months of what has been a roller coaster ride of a year. From being on the Accelerator Academy to launching Frugl, winning the Smarta Mobile Business of the Year and achieving thousands of downloads, I can’t remember a time in my career that was packed with so many exciting and challenging moments. I’m looking forward to utilising some of the fabulous prizes, especially the market research package Marketest that will prove to be especially useful as we move into our next phase of development.”

Along with the accolade of being named Self Starter of the Year, Suzanne has also won a treasure trove of prizes; £1k worth of consumer market research from Marketest, a Huddlebuy gold card, Creative Barcode membership, Innovation Bank membership, £100 of Moo.com credit, £250 of Net Lawman Credit, 1 year’s free use of Penelope and a ‘Self Starter of the Year’ trophy.

Well done Suzanne!
